How It All Started

Well, this isn’t our first business, but it has still been quite a journey to say the least. The good news is that we are always up for a new adventure! 🤣

It is quite fitting that we met in a clothing store. That’s right Abercrombie & Fitch circa 2003. It was cool then! Not only did we discover our connection to each other, but we also found a shared passion for quality-made, long-lasting clothing with those vintage feels. 💕💫

Fast forward to 2022, we packed up our kids, border collie, and belongings to head west from Texas to California. We were already dreaming about a clothing line that would capture our interest in quality, versatility, and creative freedom - but where to start? We began focusing on vintage-inspired tees with meaningful designs!

It Takes a Village

We think of our first year of work as getting the band together. As we learned to source the soft natural fabrics we wanted, to construct the high quality tees we were after, and to use the old-school printing techniques from our favorite vintage tees - we were blown away by the designers, artists and craftspeople who gravitated towards this idea and provided invaluable insights and support.

Our first design, the cosmic tiger, was inspired by a print our cousin Miranda created. We loved the idea of this three-eyed tiger immediately, and after tinkering with her we landed on a design that evoked everything Thread Hippie CA would come to stand for: the power of being free and open-minded.

Thread Hippie CA is Born

At Thread Hippie, our intention is to play outside the rules and norms. We are making clothes for the creative rebels and fashionable misfits. The ones who defy the rules of dress and the limits of conformity. The ones who wear it free.
